BEFORE & AFTER – CLASSIC MODERN SPANISH REDO

I posted about a 1930’s Spanish remodel I was working on a couple years ago and at the time I posted a few progress pictures.  I love a good before and after so check out this great transformation in my post below and check out Elle Decor’s feature on this project.  Super honored to be featured on one of my favorite design magazine’s online articles.  Check out my website for additional project pictures not shown in this blog post.  Hope you enjoy!

001 BEFORE & AFTER - BREAKFAST ROOM 1
One of my favorite rooms we transformed was the Breakfast room. The addition of white oak wood flooring, a gorgeous Galbraith & Paul wall covering, decorative molding below the existing chair rail, a stunning Waterworks pendant and crisp white sheers accented with nickel hardware really completes the look! LOVE!
002 BEFORE & AFTER - BREAKFAST ROOM 2
Another shot of this room shows how I replaced the existing doors to the backyard with a beautiful pair of arched doors and the design of new cabinetry provided much needed more functional storage space.
003 BEFORE & AFTER - KITCHEN 1
As much as I love the charm of a vintage looking kitchen it just did not function for a modern family. I opened up the wall between the kitchen and breakfast room with another arch to bring in some of the natural light. Updated cabinets, soft colors and the addition of an island provided functionality to the new design.
005 BEFORE & AFTER - BAR BATHROOM
I love the transformation of this little powder room. It went from drab to dramatic with this Anna French wallpaper and the Waterworks washstand, sink and mirror.
006 BEFORE & AFTER - MAKE-UP AREA
In the dressing/make up area we replaced the hardware on the existing cabinetry, added sconces and a charming Nina Campbell wallpaper which I think made the space warm and inviting! Love the fuzzy stool that adds a textural element to the room.

The breakfast room was one of my favorite transformations. The room was dismal and was in much need of a fresh make over. New cabinets, wallpaper from Galbriath & Paul, simple white drapery accented with nickel hardware and a beautiful Waterworks pendant.
The rear elevation shows how dramatic this transformation really was. There was nothing that invited you to this backyard. It almost seemed like an after thought. The addition of a patio off the breakfast room and kitchen provides this family an outdoor dining space next to the new pool and pool loggia making entertaining family and friends easy.
007 BEFORE & AFTER - POOL TRELLIS
I designed this pool loggia structure so it related to the architecture of the home, keeping it open on the 2 sides kept the backyard feeling open but also provided a small area to watch TV outdoors and lounge with family and friends. It also gives the family much needed storage space which always is required when updating a 30’s home. Groundswell Landscape Design created landscaping and hardscape that is thoughtful and married some of the soft, textural tones and complimented the materials we selected for the patio and trellis.
