BEFORE & AFTER – CLASSIC MODERN SPANISH REDO

I posted about a 1930’s Spanish remodel I was working on a couple years ago and at the time I posted a few progress pictures.  I love a good before and after so check out this great transformation in my post below and check out Elle Decor’s feature on this project.  Super honored to be featured on one of my favorite design magazine’s online articles.  Check out my website for additional project pictures not shown in this blog post.  Hope you enjoy!…

WALLPAPER!

Wallpaper is such a great way of transforming a space.  Check out some of our favorite wall coverings and how we used a fun pattern to finish a client’s powder room!  A powder room is the perfect area to use a fun wallpaper.  This room in our clients house is accented with fixtures from Waterworks, keeping it simple and chic.  This Anna French wallcovering is called Deilen, we used “Slate on Linen”.  …

ONE KINGS LANE – HEAD OVER HEELS FOR CHAISE’S!

When we were asked to participate in One Kings Lane’s “head over heels for chaise’s” campaign we couldn’t help but say YES!  In honor of recent fashion week festivities we were asked to pair a statement shoe with a covetable chaise.  We chose this rare, 1930’s Paul Frankl chaise lounge and paired it with these chic gold Christian Louboutin’s.  The chaise is upholstered in an ivory color silk, the wooden base is finished in it’s original green color lacquered and gilt finish…

BEFORE & AFTER BEDROOM MAKEOVER

BRENTWOOD KITCHEN REMODEL

We recently completed a quick kitchen remodel for our client that we love and wanted to share!  This project was a fantastic example of how to makeover a space quickly and really make an impact.  We kept all of the existing base cabinets, only making new boxes for the upper cabinets in order to provide more storage.   We designed new cabinet doors, purchased new appliances, installed nickel hardware, selected a new backslash & countertop material and gave the cabinets a fresh, beautiful color.  Such a…

SUNDAY FLEA MARKET

Fresh off my fun-filled Friday Halloween festivities, I decided to continue my action packed weekend by visiting the Pasadena City College flea market that’s held the first Sunday of every month.  The whole family was along for the ride so I didn’t accomplish as much shopping as usual but I did score some great finds!    …

SPANISH 30’S REMODEL BEFORE & AFTER

We have both been so busy with projects and end of summer family vacations we haven’t posted in awhile.  I’ve been completely consumed in this gorgeous 1930’s Spanish remodel and wanted to take a moment to share some of the before & after’s.  We are still under construction so once this job is complete I will be sure to post more pictures. Janice We did all new stucco in a crisp white and painted most of the trim black.  I…

GREGORY AIN – MAR VISTA TRACT

One of my favorite things about living in Los Angeles is the wide variety of architecture we have.  In a West LA neighborhood called Mar Vista there are a couple quaint streets lined with classic Mid-Century homes designed by American architect Gregory Ain.   Gregory Ain was an active architect in the mid-20th century and was best known for designing modern housing at a lower cost.  The Mar Vista Tract was developed in 1947 originally for 100 houses on a 60…

DUMPLING SOUP!

Happy New Year!  My mom’s homemade Korean dumpling soup is one of my absolute favorite dishes.  Since I wasn’t able to go back east to see my family this holiday season I got the recipe and had a little get together.  There is nothing better than homemade soup when the weather gets cool.  I was even motivated enough to make my own kimchi, which was easier and tastier than expected! Enjoy, Janice Cucumber kimchi in the making… Cucumber & cabbage kimchi…

HOLIDAY PARTY PLANNING

I love the holidays! Festive decorating, crafting and baking are all exhausting undertakings but somehow the magic of the season makes it all worth while. So what better way to share my excitement than with a lighthearted evening with friends. Thank you to our guests and Happy Holiday’s to our readers. -Janice One of the first things I made for the party was this wreath. An idea found from Martha Stewart, it’s crafted of delicate flowers made from tapioca plants. An elegant green satin bow contrasted well with our…
