FEATURED INTERIOR

- Mid-Century Inspired Nursery -

After months of hunting for the perfect objects, art and furniture (and raising a newborn for the first time), I've finally got my nursery to a place where I can say I'm satisfied...at least for now.  As a designer I can say my interiors always evolve and change as I'm inspired and discovering new and intriguing ideas.  The balance between design and function becomes even more challenging after having a baby.  Hope you enjoy what I have pulled together, check back for Laura's fab nursery which we will be shooting soon!

Enjoy,

Janice

I spent a lot of time shopping for a changing table and finally decided instead of purchasing a new piece of furniture I would re-purpose this great Danish sideboard that I already owned.  I designed a custom changing table tray that fits right on top of my vintage piece.  On the right there is an area where my changing pad fits and on the left there are three compartments for diapers, wipes and other baby must have's.

As an artist I knew choosing just a couple pieces of art for my son's room would be too difficult so I decided on doing a collage of artwork above the changing table.  The ABC kid's poster from

byGraziela

can be found on

Etsy

and the wonderful

"Apple Papple"

poster is designed by Elizabeth Dunker and was purchased from the company we featured last week named

Fine Little Day

.  The vintage needlepoint was a gift from my mother-in-law, which once hung in my husband's bedroom in the 70's...LOVE!  The fabulous felted animal head can be purchased through

Bodie and Fou

.  The one I purchased is no longer available through this site but they have some amazing other designs, check out the

elephant

!

With so many wall decals available out there I knew I wanted something subtle that I wouldn't get tired of.  This one is from

Blik

and they have an amazing assortment to choose from.

With all the great books I have collected (vintage and new), I needed a place to display them where my son wouldn't manage to reach and ultimately tear or chew them to pieces.  These shelves worked perfectly!  I had mine custom-made to fit my space but you can find similar items through

Land of Nod

.  The

Oeuf Sparrow crib

is from

Giggle

and the fitted sheet is from

Aunt Bucky

.  The sweet vintage airplane I found at an antique store.  I have a few others I plan on hanging around the room.  You can find similar ones on

Etsy

.

I have so many blankets and stuffed toys to store and this green felted storage cube was exactly what I wanted.  You can find it through

Land of Nod

;

check out their other great colors.  The vintage tractor was a gift from my business partner Laura...the room wouldn't be complete without it!

With an endless amount of stuffed animals to choose from I have to say one of my favorites is made by a company named

Jelly Cat

.  I have four already and I'm currently eyeing the chicken and fox!

I couldn't wrap up this blog posting without featuring some photos of my little man Van!  He was patiently playing during the photo shoot with his other favorite toy, the

Zoo Shape Sorter

from

Dwell Studio

.  This was yet another great gift from Laura!  Everyone needs a Laura in their life!
